Trending TikTok Video Scraper

I want a small, dependable script that can automatically pull down the latest trending TikTok videos for my personal viewing and archiving. The tool should:

• Detect what TikTok currently classifies as “trending” (for example through the Discover page, trending sound IDs, or other openly available endpoints)
• Capture each video’s MP4 file in the highest resolution offered, plus basic metadata such as creator handle, caption, like count, share count, and video URL
• Save everything locally in clearly-named folders or a simple SQLite/CSV structure so I can browse the clips offline later

I am happy with a headless solution built in Python (Playwright, Selenium, TikTok-Api, etc.) or Node if you prefer. No GUI is necessary; a command-line script with a clear README is perfect.

Acceptance criteria
1. Running one command fetches the current batch of trending videos (I should be able to set how many).
2. Videos and metadata are stored without duplicates.
3. README covers any required keys, cookies, or environment variables and typical troubleshooting steps.

Please keep within TikTok’s public access limits—no need for private API hacking. If you have a working demo or past project that does something similar, that’s a plus; share a short clip or repo link so I can verify it meets my use case.
