I am looking for a detail-oriented paralegal who can jump straight into my Virginia traffic docket. Your first responsibility will be the nuts and bolts of traffic matter documents and the associated online filing: drafting Notices of Appearance, Motions for Continuance or to Reopen, Praecipes to waive appearance and set trial, then pushing each pleading through File and Serve, updating the attorney’s calendar, and confirming the hearing date on the court schedule.
Once a traffic file is active you will also build the trial and exhibit binders, close the loop with disposition and closure letters, and keep every step recorded in the timesheet and case-management folders I maintain on AWS.
After the traffic flow is running smoothly, I will add uncontested divorce work. Those filings are for Virginia courts as well, so experience with Complaints, Waivers or Acceptances of Service, Affidavits, Marital Settlement Agreements, VS-4 forms, and Final Decrees prepared in CLM will be a plus.
Research support is part of the job. I rely on Lex AI, LexisNexis, Claude, Co-pilot, and ChatGPT for quick issue spotting and draft language, so you should be comfortable moving between those platforms and capturing the citations you pull.
Key deliverables for each traffic matter
• Draft and e-file all pleadings through File and Serve
• Update attorney calendar and court schedule immediately after filing/setting
• Assemble trial & exhibit binders in the format I provide (PDF plus hard copy index)
• Upload every finalized document to the correct AWS folder and log time spent
Acceptance criteria
• Court confirms receipt of each filing with no rejection notices
• Calendar reflects the hearing date within the same business day
• Binder files pass my pre-trial checklist on first review
• All documents and time entries appear in the corresponding AWS directory by close of business
