Traditional Hedge Design

I'm seeking expert landscape design advice for my front entryway. I prefer a traditional style and need guidance on selecting the right type of plant to install on either side of the entryway. I live in Zone 5b and would prefer year round color. Also, as you can see on one of the photos my boxwood hedge along the sidewalk is starting to die - I would like a recommendation on a plant that would blend with the boxwood and not impede growth of the young magnolia next to it.
