I need a well-structured Pine Script (v5) that scans each new candle, spots true gaps, and instantly draws a colored zone to highlight the empty price area. A true gap is:
• Gap-Up when the current candle’s Low is above the previous candle’s High
• Gap-Down when the current candle’s High is below the previous candle’s Low
The zone must begin at the gap edges, extend to the right on every bar, and stay visible even after price has traded back through it; in other words, once a gap is filled, the box remains on the chart as historical context rather than disappearing.
Key requirements you’ll code:
• User input for minimum gap size expressed as a percentage (no points filter needed).
• Separate color inputs for Gap-Up and Gap-Down zones.
• Optional on-chart text label that shows the exact gap percentage value beside the box.
• Efficient, readable functions with comments so I can tweak colours or logic later without digging through tangled code.
• No hard-wiring to a single symbol or market; the script should work on any TradingView chart by default.
Deliverable: a single .pine file ready to paste into the TradingView editor and compile without errors. Please test it on both intraday and daily data to confirm the gap logic, the box extension, and the “keep filled gaps” behaviour all work exactly as described.
