Project Title
Development of an Arduino-Based Tracked Rover – Robotics Engineering Prototype
1. Project Overview
I am looking for an experienced Arduino/Robotics developer to design and develop a compact, tank-style tracked rover as an engineering and educational demonstrator.
The objective is to develop a remotely controlled, battery-operated robotic platform capable of traversing uneven surfaces, including sand, loose gravel and mildly rough terrain.
The project should focus on mechanical stability, reliable wireless control, mobility, basic camera integration and modular design.
2. Key Technical Requirements
A. Mechanical Design
* Compact tank-style tracked chassis.
* Two independent DC geared motors with differential steering.
* Durable tracks suitable for sand and uneven gravel.
* Stable chassis with adequate ground clearance.
* Provision for mounting a lightweight camera and electronic components.
B. Electronics and Control
* Arduino-based control architecture (Arduino Uno, Mega or ESP32, as appropriate).
* Motor driver and suitable power management system.
* Rechargeable battery-operated system.
* Wireless remote-control capability.
* Emergency power cut-off and fail-safe behaviour in case of signal loss.
C. Operating Requirements
* Target operating range: 100–200 metres in suitable open conditions.
* Capable of forward, reverse, left and right movement.
* Ability to negotiate small obstacles and uneven surfaces.
* Stable operation on sand and loose gravel.
* Adequate battery backup for practical field demonstrations.
D. Camera Integration
* Provision for mounting a compact onboard camera.
* Live video transmission to a separate receiving display.
* Independent control and video systems may be considered if technically more reliable.
3. Expected Deliverables
The selected freelancer will be required to provide:
1. Complete mechanical design and chassis specifications.
2. Component-wise Bill of Materials (BOM).
3. Circuit diagram and wiring connections.
4. Complete Arduino source code with comments.
5. Assembly instructions with photographs or diagrams.
6. Working prototype or detailed guidance for local assembly.
7. Wireless control and camera integration.
8. Testing and troubleshooting documentation.
9. Basic maintenance and upgrade recommendations.
4. Budget
Estimated Budget: ₹10,000–₹13,000 (INR)
The freelancer should provide:
* Estimated component costs.
* Development/programming charges.
* Any additional hardware requirements.
* Proposed project timeline.
Cost-effective and readily available components are preferred.
5. Required Expertise
Applicants should have practical experience in:
* Arduino and ESP32 development.
* DC motor control and motor drivers.
* Wireless robotics and remote-control systems.
* Tracked robotic chassis design.
* Battery and power management.
* Camera integration and video transmission.
* Embedded C/C++ programming.
Previous experience developing small robotic vehicles or autonomous robotics demonstrators will be an advantage.
6. Important Project Conditions
* Preference will be given to developers who can explain the complete design rather than simply supply a preassembled kit.
* All source codes, circuit diagrams and design documentation must be provided.
* Components should preferably be readily available in the Indian market.
* The design should be modular, allowing future educational upgrades.
* The platform is intended strictly for civilian educational robotics and engineering demonstrations. No weapons or harmful payloads are required.
Looking for someone who can deliver a practical, reliable and well-documented working prototype within the specified budget.
