I am designing a short-cycle English programme for 3- to 5-year-olds that relies entirely on Total Physical Response, gamified play, and plenty of movement. The very first objective is crystal-clear: children must learn to understand simple instructions given in English while they are jumping, clapping, running, or otherwise on the move.
To make that happen I need a set of lively micro-lessons that can flow seamlessly between an indoor classroom and an outdoor play area. Each session should last no longer than 12–15 minutes, stay high-energy from start to finish, and weave English into actions rather than explanations. Think “Touch your toes!”, “Run to the red cone!”, “Clap twice!”—commands that feel like a game yet build listening comprehension.
Please base every activity on action games (jump, clap, run, hop, spin), folding songs, chants, and role-play in only when they reinforce those core movements. The language must stay limited to everyday verbs, body parts, colours, and classroom objects so children can succeed without memorising vocabulary lists.
Deliverables
• Ten themed lesson plans (PDF + editable file) sequenced for progressive skill-building
• A one-page teacher cheat sheet per lesson with gestures, target phrases, and timing breaks
• Printable visual aids or prop suggestions that match the games (e.g., colour cards, footprint mats)
• Quick-reference assessment checklist that shows how to spot comprehension through action
Acceptance criteria
• Every command can be demonstrated physically; no translation or written text is required.
• Each lesson includes at least one transition that works both indoors and outdoors.
• Total set keeps prep time under five minutes and equipment low-cost or DIY.
If you have experience blending TPR with movement-rich games for preschoolers, these plans should feel intuitive to you. I’m ready to review a sample outline immediately and move into the full build once we’re aligned on tone, pacing, and activity style.
