Textbook Redesign & Print Prep

I am looking for an experienced textbook designer to professionally redesign and prepare my English-language educational book, Fundamentals of Industrial Safety, for printing.

The book currently contains 288 pages. Its layout and illustrations were produced using AI tools, but the results do not meet the quality, image sharpness, or design consistency I need. I now want to move to a professional manual design workflow using Adobe InDesign.

This is not a request to create new content or generate a new set of illustrations. The goal is to use the existing text and images, manually rebuild and refine the layout, and improve the overall quality.

Scope of Work

1. Unify the book’s design
The chapters were developed separately, so their layouts, fonts, colors, and question formats differ. Establish one consistent visual identity across the entire book, including chapter openings, headings, margins, spacing, image placement, headers, and footers.
2. Standardize questions and activities
Create consistent formatting for questions, exercises, instructional boxes, and answer spaces while preserving the different question types and their educational purpose.
3. Improve image quality and sharpness
Some existing illustrations look soft or lack clear detail. Enhance them for their intended print size without changing the accuracy of equipment, safety signs, or instructional details. Simply changing the resolution setting to 300 DPI is not sufficient. Identify images that cannot be improved adequately and recommend solutions for approval.
4. Review layout and converted text
Check editable text against the original pages for conversion errors. Resolve cropped text, overlapping elements, inconsistent alignment, and insufficient answer space. Preserve the original content.
5. Prepare the book for printing
Correct page numbering, update the table of contents, remove obsolete numbering embedded in images, and prepare margins and bleed according to the printer’s requirements. Prepare the front cover, back cover, spine, and ISBN area.

Required Deliverables

* Editable Adobe InDesign files in INDD and IDML formats.
* A complete package containing linked images and fonts, subject to font licensing.
* A print-ready PDF meeting the printer’s specifications.
* A lighter PDF for electronic viewing.

Important Conditions

Use the existing content and illustrations. Do not replace, regenerate, or substantially alter images or content without my approval. Any image enhancement must preserve technical and instructional accuracy.

Initial Trial

I will provide a sample file containing five pages only. Choose one page and redesign it as a trial, demonstrating both your layout skills and your ability to improve the existing images.

Provide the original and redesigned page for comparison, together with a short explanation of the improvements and any remaining image-quality limitations.

If I am satisfied with the trial, I will proceed with you on the remaining book and provide the complete files and available original images.
