Texas Audit Firm Setup Guidance

I am launching a boutique financial-audit practice licensed in Texas and want an experienced practitioner to walk me through the operational side of running a firm here. My immediate focus is financial audit engagements, so everything we put in place must align with Texas State Board of Public Accountancy rules, AICPA standards, and the typical expectations of banks, investors, and regulators in this region.
Where I need you most is operations: designing the day-to-day workflow, documenting every step, and making sure my junior staff can follow it confidently. This includes preparing clear process manuals, templates, and checklists for planning, fieldwork, and reporting, then coaching my team on how to use them. If you have a proven approach for onboarding staff quickly—whether that involves custom e-learning modules, live workshops, or shadow reviews—I want to leverage it.
Deliverables I expect:
• A complete set of process documents that map the financial-audit lifecycle from engagement acceptance through issuance.
• A staff-training program (slides, recordings, or similar) plus a short live session to validate understanding.
Our collaboration will be hands-on: screen-shares, working sessions inside tools such as CaseWare, CCH ProSystem fx Engagement, or whichever platform you recommend. By the end, I need to feel confident managing engagements, delegating tasks, and maintaining quality control without constant outside support.
If you have recent Texas audit experience and enjoy building repeatable processes, let’s talk about scheduling, milestones, and how we’ll measure success.
