A short-form documentary is being filmed in Tahoe City and clean, reliable location audio is critical to its success. The schedule spans two consecutive days in late June, moving between lakeside exteriors, small indoor interview setups, and a handful of vérité walk-and-talk scenes around town. To stay nimble the camera unit will be no larger than three people, so the sound department needs to be equally streamlined—ideally one or two professionals who can cover production sound recording, operate a boom, and keep quick, organised sound notes.
Core expectations
• Capture broadcast-quality dialogue, nat-sound beds, and general ambience with proper gain staging and minimal noise.
• Slate and hand off labelled WAV files at 48 kHz/24-bit at the end of each shoot day, synced to camera timecode when possible.
• Provide a concise sound report noting any takes with potential issues.
Basic kit you would bring should include a field mixer/recorder (e.g., MixPre, 633, or similar), shotgun mic on a boom, two wireless lavs, and enough power/media for full days in the field. If you also have gear for light music recording—just in case a busker or live set folds into the story—let me know.
Please mention your Tahoe or high-altitude experience, confirm gear list, and highlight one recent doc project whose audio you handled from set through hand-off.
