I need a purpose-built IoT inventory platform that keeps every tool in my auto shop accounted for and instantly searchable from a tablet on the workshop floor. The interface has to feel at home on an iPad or similar device—large touch targets, quick loading times, and an offline-tolerant design so my technicians can still work if Wi-Fi drops for a moment.

Core workflow
Technicians will scan or tap a tagged tool, confirm where it is going, and the system updates our stock level and location log. When a tool hasn’t been returned or its quantity falls below a preset threshold, the platform should flag it on the dashboard and optionally push a notification. I’m open to common tag technologies such as BLE or passive RFID; the software just needs a clean way to map tag IDs to tool records and allow me to add new items without touching code.

Data & admin
A lightweight backend database (SQL or NoSQL—your recommendation) must store tool details, movement history, and user roles. From an admin view I want to:
• bulk-import/export tool lists (CSV is fine),
• set minimum quantity rules,
• pull simple usage reports for insurance and budgeting.

Integration & extensibility
REST or GraphQL endpoints would let us plug the system into our existing shop-management software later. Clear, commented code and a short read-me are essential so we can maintain the app in-house after launch.

Deliverables
1. Tablet-optimised web or hybrid app with responsive UI
2. Backend service with database schema and API routes
3. Initial deployment on our on-prem or cloud server (your guidance welcome)
4. Setup/config documentation and a quick-start user guide

Acceptance criteria
• A tagged tool can be registered, checked out, and checked back in from a tablet without page reloads.
• Alerts trigger correctly when a tool is overdue or below threshold.
• Admin CSV import adds at least 100 tool records in one pass with no data loss.
• Code passes a brief peer review for readability and comments.

If this aligns with your skill set, let’s discuss the technical stack and timeline so we can get the shop running smoothly with zero missing tools.
