Synology Folder Permission Setup

I need to tighten up permission inheritance on a single shared folder in my Synology NAS. The goal is to:

• Apply read-only access for one group of users
• Grant full read/write access to another group
• Hide every other sub-folder except one that should remain visible and usable to everyone who signs in

The shared folder already exists; I just haven’t nailed the right combination of ACL rules and “Apply to this folder, sub-folders and files” options in DSM. You’ll connect remotely (QuickConnect, OpenVPN or any method you recommend) and walk me through:

1. Cleaning up the current permission tree so nothing conflicting is left behind
2. Setting the correct ACLs and confirming they inherit properly
3. Testing with real user accounts to prove read-only vs. read/write is behaving as expected and the “only specific subfolder” rule is working
4. Leaving me with a short summary (screenshots or text) so I can repeat the process later

No other NAS services need touching—just the shared folder permissions. Experience with Synology DSM’s advanced permissions and Windows ACL style management is a must.
