DaVinci Resolve Studio: I have a single one-minute sequence. It will be available in QuickTime ProRes LT format 50p via link, 1.2GB. I need a colour correction that would restore the colours of the central part of the frame, which currently shows an overexposed area with a strong blue colour cast (opera stage/orchestra shot — central background is blown out and pulling cold/cyan, while the rest of the frame — foreground performers, gold theatre boxes — is correctly exposed and colour balanced).
Scope of work
Primary correction pass to bring overall exposure, contrast and white balance to a natural, broadcast-ready look.
Secondary/targeted correction isolating the overexposed, blue-cast central area only (via qualifier/power window/mask as appropriate), matched seamlessly to the rest of the frame — no visible edge or transition artifacts.
Recovery of detail/texture in the blown highlights where possible, without introducing banding or noise.
Skin tones across all performers in frame must remain natural and consistent — no cast or shift introduced as a side effect of the secondary correction.
Deliverables required
Graded ProRes (or agreed export codec/format) of the final one-minute sequence.
The complete DaVinci Resolve project file (.drp or exported/archived project — please specify your preferred method: Project Archive via "File > Project Manager > Export Project Archive" including all media, or a DRP + separate node/grade export) containing:
Full node tree exactly as used (primary + secondary nodes, in order).
All qualifiers, power windows, masks and tracking data used for the targeted correction, with their parameters intact and editable.
All applied Resolve FX/plugins (if any), fully labeled.
Node labels/notes briefly describing what each node does (e.g. "01 Primary WB/Exp", "02 Qualifier — central blue cast", "03 Power Window — background isolation", etc.) so the correction can be reviewed, adjusted, or reapplied to other shots in the sequence later.
A short written note (a few lines is fine) summarizing the general approach taken — which tools/technique were used for the targeted fix (qualifier vs. window vs. HSL curve, etc.) — so I can maintain consistency on future shots from the same source without re-briefing each time.
Technical notes
- No audio needed
- I'm working in DaVinci Resolve Studio 21, so please deliver in a version-compatible project file (let me know if you're on a different version, and please flag any features used that require Studio license specifically). Please avoid destructive/baked-in fixes where possible — I need everything to remain live/adjustable in the node graph, not flattened.
- Should you use other software like Topaz or other AI tools to re-gain lost details and colour separation, send a 5 seconds preview for approval and Davinci settings/project will be unnecessary: you can send the same format straight back.
Please let me know your day rate/turnaround for this, and whether you'd like a reference frame or two (screenshots) in advance to scope the difficulty before quoting.
Thanks
