The Sr. Underwriting Analyst supports Baldwin's Employee Benefits practice, working with advisor and sales teams to support modeling, trends, data management, and project-based work across medical, dental, and vision lines of coverage.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary responsibility for monthly client deliverables
Create and manage dashboard exhibits
Establish ongoing communication with carriers to monitor claims
Remain current with employee benefits products and trends
Build employer/employee contribution strategies and projection-based modeling (examples: M&A resources, contribution and migration modeling)
Apply underwriting and actuarial modeling tools to analyze claims experience, project renewal costs, and support plan performance benchmarking
Collaborate with advisor, sales, actuarial, and account management teams to deliver integrated client analysis and recommendations
Assist on additional team projects as needed
Provide data manipulation and formatting expertise
Support and develop medical utilization project-based work
EDUCATION, EXPEREINCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Bachelor's degree required
Experience with a carrier, medical preferred
Working knowledge of medical, dental, and vision insurance carrier market financials, products, and benefit offerings
Knowledge of plan funding arrangements, including fully insured, level-funded, and self-funded structures
Organizational skills and time management
Strong mathematic ability
Effective communications skills both written and verbal for interface with Clients and co-workers
Ability to work in a team environment
Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional and inter-departmental teams
Effective computer skills: Microsoft Office Software, and other firm and discipline-specific software applications. Excel and PowerPoint skills required.
Ability to take initiative, problem-solve, multi-task and work well under pressure
