I need our entire on-premise stack—both the SQL Server database and the local web application—moved into Microsoft Azure without disrupting day-to-day use.
Here’s the flow I have in mind. First, capture a full backup of the current SQL Server instance, then recreate every schema object, stored procedure, and data set in Azure SQL Database (or a managed instance if that proves cleaner). Once the data layer is live, package the web application and deploy it to Azure App Service, updating all connection strings and configuration so the app speaks to the new cloud database seamlessly. I’d like CI/CD scripts or at least repeatable deployment steps included so future releases are painless.
Minimal downtime is important; a short maintenance window after business hours is fine. After deployment we’ll run smoke tests and a quick user-acceptance pass to confirm that authentication, reporting, and every other existing feature behaves exactly as before.
Deliverables
• Azure SQL Database fully populated and reachable
• Web application running on Azure with unchanged functionality
• Deployment/rollback scripts or templates and concise hand-over notes
Hands-on familiarity with Azure Data Migration Service, SQL Server Migration Assistant, App Service, and Azure DevOps will help you hit the ground running. Let me know how you’d tackle the move and how fast you can get it done.
