Spanish Architect / Architectural Team – Premium Wellness Center in Torremolinos
Project Overview
We are developing a premium Wellness Center in Torremolinos, Málaga, and are looking for an experienced Spanish architect or architectural team to help us develop the project from the current preliminary stage.
The project involves the transformation of an existing large-span building of approximately 2,400–2,500 m² into a high-quality, premium wellness and performance center.
The existing steel structure and main building volume are intended to be retained wherever technically and economically possible.
We are looking for someone who can combine strong architectural design with practical knowledge of Spanish regulations, licensing and technical project development.
The Concept
The project has recently evolved from a conventional gym concept into a more ambitious Premium Wellness Center.
The intended concept may include:
Premium gym and strength training
Cardio
Functional training / Hyrox
Yoga / Pilates / group exercise studios
Physiotherapy
Sports medicine / consultations
Recovery Lounge
Sauna
Cold / hot contrast facilities
Massage and treatment rooms
Nutrition / consultation rooms
Premium changing rooms
Healthy café / social area
Reception and lounge
Staff, storage and technical areas
The final distribution is not yet fixed.
We therefore want the architect to contribute not only technically but also architecturally and commercially, helping us determine how the approximately 2,400–2,500 m² can best be used to create a genuinely premium destination.
First Phase – Concept & Feasibility
The initial assignment would be to develop a professional concept and feasibility study including:
Preliminary architectural floor plan
Functional zoning and circulation
Reception and entrance concept
Gym / wellness / recovery distribution
Changing rooms and sanitary areas
Café / social areas
Technical and storage areas
Preliminary evacuation strategy
Fire compartmentation considerations
Accessibility
Initial HVAC, ventilation, electrical and plumbing considerations
Acoustic considerations
Preliminary assessment of the existing structure
Initial construction cost assessment
We also want your professional opinion regarding the optimal commercial and architectural concept for the building.
The objective is not simply to create another gym, but a high-end wellness destination with a strong premium identity and customer experience.
Spanish Regulations & Licensing
The project is located in Torremolinos, Málaga, and it is important that the architect has a strong understanding of applicable Spanish and Andalusian building regulations.
Experience with the following is highly desirable:
Building permits
Opening / operating licences
Fire regulations
Accessibility
Acoustic requirements
Technical installations
Structural verification
Legalisation of installations
Municipal procedures in Andalucía
We are also interested in an architect who can coordinate the necessary specialist engineers and technical consultants.
Future Phases
If the first phase is successful, we would like the possibility to continue with the same architect/team through:
Phase 2 – Basic Project
Detailed architectural and technical documentation required for the relevant approval process.
Phase 3 – Execution Project
Detailed construction drawings, technical installations, specifications and contractor documentation.
Phase 4 – Technical Management
Site supervision, coordination of contractors and specialists, completion documentation and assistance with commissioning and legalisation.
What We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate should have:
Spanish professional architectural qualification
Ability to undertake/sign the relevant professional work in Spain
Strong knowledge of Spanish building regulations
Experience in Andalucía, preferably Málaga
Experience with commercial, hospitality, wellness, fitness or healthcare projects
Strong architectural and interior design capabilities
Ability to work in English
Experience coordinating technical consultants
Experience with premium wellness, hospitality or high-end fitness projects would be a major advantage.
