I have a curated list of well-known, now-deceased public figures and I need a clean set of photographs for each one. Every image should be at least medium resolution (roughly 800 px on the short edge or larger); if you can secure higher-quality files that meet the same usage terms, even better.
Preferred sources are Wikipedia and Find-a-Grave because they usually host images released under Creative Commons licences or in the public domain. You are welcome to pull from other reputable, freely accessible archives as long as the usage rights are equally permissive—news-site photo libraries, national archives, or any open-licence repository are all fine.
What I need from you
• A separate image file (JPG or PNG) for each person on my list, saved with the individual’s name in the filename.
• A simple spreadsheet (or CSV) that pairs every file with the exact image URL, the licence type (e.g., CC-BY-SA 3.0, Public Domain), and the creator/photographer credit line when one is required.
Basic attribution rules to follow
1. Keep the original photographer’s name exactly as it appears on the source page.
2. Note the licence abbreviation (CC-BY, CC-BY-SA, PD, etc.).
3. Include a direct link to the source page where the licence is displayed.
I’ll review by checking that each file meets the size threshold, the links work, and the credit information is present and accurate. Once everything passes, the project is complete.
