Soft Watercolor Storybook Illustrations

I have a short children’s story—fewer than 20 pages—written for readers aged 8 to 12. To let the narrative breathe, I’m envisioning gentle, storybook-style watercolors that feel warm and slightly whimsical. The layout will combine full-page spreads with smaller spot pieces that sit beside blocks of text.

Scope and flow
• Roughly 12-14 full-page scenes to mark major plot beats.
• Another 6-8 spot illustrations for dialogue accents, chapter headers, or quiet transitions.
• All artwork delivered at 300 dpi, CMYK, sized for an 8" × 10" trim with 0.125" bleed; layered PSD or high-resolution PNG/TIFF is fine.

Process I find helpful
1. Thumbnail sketches so we can lock composition and pacing.
2. Color roughs to settle on palette and mood.
3. Final polished artwork, ready for print and a web-friendly downsized copy.

Acceptance
I’ll sign off at each stage before you proceed, ensuring we stay aligned on character look, atmosphere, and page flow.

If your portfolio already shows soft watercolor pieces aimed at middle-grade readers, please point me to them so I can gauge fit right away. Looking forward to seeing how you’d bring this story to life.
