Freelance Social Media Manager & Growth Specialist (Fiction / Thriller Author)
Job Type: Freelance / Contract
Location: Remote
Duration: Ongoing (Phased across late 2026 through 2027)
Platforms: Instagram, Facebook (Primary), with openness to TikTok / BookTok or X if strategic
About the Project
I am an established fiction author seeking an energetic, proactive freelance Social Media Manager to take full ownership of my social presence, grow my reader base, and build momentum around my releases.
I already have an extensive library of media assets (cover art, graphics, excerpts, photography) ready to adapt, but I need an expert who knows how to optimize content for algorithm reach, organic engagement, and book sales in the thriller/espionage fiction space.
Scope of Work across Three Phases
Phase 1: Brand Building & Backlist Amplification (Immediate – December 2026)
Establish consistent daily presence and establish high name recognition.
Promote my existing 3-book series, The Repurposed Spies, driving backlist sales and email list/follower growth.
Audit existing profiles, optimize bios/link trees, and organize a reliable posting schedule.
Phase 2: Launch Campaign for Country 199 (January – Spring 2027)
Execute a launch marketing calendar for my upcoming standalone novel, Country 199 (launching late January/February 2027).
Build pre-order hype, run release-week promotions, coordinate ARC (Advance Review Copy) or review mentions, and maximize launch momentum.
Phase 3: Sustained Visibility & Community Retention (Spring 2027 & Beyond)
Maintain steady organic reach and community interaction while I focus on writing the next book.
Repurpose Evergreen content, run reader discussions, and nurture an active fan base.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Publishing: Schedule and publish high-quality, on-brand posts across Instagram and Facebook daily (7 days a week).
Proactive Engagement: Follow, interact with, and leave meaningful comments on posts by comparable authors, book reviewers, and genre influencers.
Community Outreach: Identify and participate in relevant reader groups (e.g., Facebook reading clubs, thriller book communities, hashtag challenges).
Creative Curation & Ideation: Utilize existing media assets while advising on creative improvements, short-form video hooks (Reels/Stories), and trend opportunities.
Performance Tracking: Deliver monthly high-level metrics (follower growth, reach, engagement rates) and adjust tactics based on what works.
Requirements
Proven track record managing social media accounts, preferably for authors, publishers, or creative brands.
Familiarity with the thriller, spy, or crime fiction reader communities (Bookstagram, BookTok, Facebook reader groups).
Strong copywriting skills capable of capturing the author's voice and writing compelling hooks.
Ability to work autonomously, hit posting deadlines, and communicate clearly.
How to Apply
Please submit:
Links to 1–2 social accounts you have managed or grown (author/book accounts are a major plus).
A brief note on how you would approach increasing an author's name recognition over a short 8–10 week window.
Your monthly rate or hourly structure for daily management across 2 platforms.
