# Community & Social Media Marketing Specialist – Drive 100 Signups for NZ Cloud/VPS Platform
## About the project
We are looking for an experienced **community marketing / social media growth specialist** to promote **SiliconKiwi**, a New Zealand-based cloud and VPS hosting platform.
SiliconKiwi provides affordable New Zealand-hosted VPS infrastructure for developers, small businesses, students, startups, self-hosters and technical users.
Our objective for this project is straightforward:
**Generate 100 genuine new SiliconKiwi customer signups through community engagement and social media marketing.**
This is not primarily a paid advertising assignment. We are particularly interested in someone who understands how to find relevant online communities, participate authentically, create useful content, and turn awareness into real customer acquisition.
## Target audiences
Likely audiences include:
* Developers and software engineers
* Self-hosting and homelab communities
* Small businesses
* Startups and indie developers
* IT professionals and sysadmins
* Students studying IT/computer science
* Privacy and data-sovereignty-conscious users
* New Zealand businesses wanting infrastructure hosted locally
* Users of AWS, Azure, DigitalOcean, Vultr, Hetzner and similar services looking for alternatives
You should be comfortable identifying additional audiences and communities yourself.
## Channels
We are open to your recommendations. Potential channels include:
* Reddit
* Facebook Groups
* LinkedIn
* X / Twitter
* TikTok
* Discord communities
* Developer and self-hosting forums
* New Zealand technology and business communities
* Relevant university/student communities
* Other communities where VPS/cloud users are active
The emphasis should be on **credible participation and useful engagement**, not mass posting or spam.
## What you will do
You will develop and execute a practical community/social acquisition campaign, including:
* Identify relevant communities and audiences
* Develop channel-specific messaging
* Create posts, discussions and promotional content
* Participate in relevant conversations where SiliconKiwi is genuinely applicable
* Communicate SiliconKiwi's differentiators clearly
* Drive interested users to the SiliconKiwi website
* Experiment with different messages/offers and improve based on results
* Track where signups are coming from
* Provide a brief summary of activities and results
You will have reasonable flexibility in how you achieve the target.
## SiliconKiwi's key selling points
SiliconKiwi is a New Zealand VPS/cloud provider with a strong price/performance proposition.
Key differentiators include:
* **New Zealand-hosted infrastructure**
* NZ data residency
* Very competitive VPS pricing
* IPv4 and IPv6
* Root access
* Local support
* Backup and snapshot options
* Self-managed, assisted and managed service options
* Suitable for websites, applications, APIs, development environments, VPNs and self-hosted applications
Current plans start from approximately **NZ$8/month**, with larger plans offering significantly more CPU, RAM, storage and traffic.
We can provide additional product information, graphics, promotional codes and supporting material.
## Project target and budget
**Fixed price: US$500**
**Target: 100 qualified new customer signups**
For this project, a qualified signup means a genuine prospective customer registering through the campaign.
We are interested in **real users with genuine interest in the service**.
The following will not be accepted:
* Bots or automated registrations
* Fake accounts
* Duplicate accounts
* Purchased signup lists
* Signup farms
* Misleading promotions
* Spam
* Activity that breaches community rules
* Artificial or fraudulent traffic
Quality matters more to us than simply reaching a registration counter.
We will provide suitable campaign tracking/referral mechanisms so attribution can be measured.
## Who we are looking for
You should have demonstrated experience in one or more of:
* Community marketing
* Organic social media growth
* Developer marketing
* SaaS or technology marketing
* Growth marketing
* Reddit/community engagement
* Hosting/cloud/VPS marketing
* Building audiences in technical communities
You do **not** need to be a cloud engineer, but you should be comfortable communicating with technically knowledgeable audiences.
Experience promoting hosting, SaaS, developer tools, cybersecurity, open-source software or infrastructure products would be particularly valuable.
## When applying
Please tell us:
1. How you would approach getting the first 100 SiliconKiwi users.
2. Which communities/channels you would target first and why.
3. Examples of similar community or customer-acquisition work you have done.
4. Approximately what results you achieved.
5. Whether you have previously marketed VPS, hosting, SaaS, developer tools or other technical products.
**Please do not submit a generic social media management proposal.**
We are specifically looking for someone who can demonstrate that they understand **community-driven customer acquisition** and can turn engagement into measurable signups.
There is potential for ongoing work if the initial campaign performs well.
