I am looking for an experienced Mechatronics, Robotics, or Embedded Systems Engineer with strong 3D CAD design capabilities to create a Fully Automated Perfume Decanting and Bottling Machine.
The machine must operate as an unattended, "set-and-forget" smart bottling station for two main scenarios:
Batch Automated Filling (Bulk Bottling):
The user loads a bulk liquid (e.g., 1 Liter of mixed perfume oil + alcohol) and places multiple empty bottles (e.g., 10, 20, or 50 bottles of 20ml / 50ml).
The machine automatically feeds, positions, and fills each bottle to the target volume sequentially until all bottles are filled or the liquid runs out.
Smart Automatic Decanting & Multi-Size Distribution:
Decanting original perfume (e.g., 100ml bottle) into smaller decant bottles of varying volumes (e.g., 5ml, 10ml, 20ml, 30ml).
The machine automatically identifies/detects the bottle type or size (via height/proximity sensors, rotary presets, or weight detection) and dispenses the exact corresponding amount for that specific bottle without manual intervention.
Key System Features & Specifications:
Microcontroller: ESP32 (Preferred for processing speed, multi-tasking, and dual-core performance) or Arduino.
Automated Motion System:
A motorized rotary carousel (Turntable) or conveyor indexing mechanism driven by Stepper Motors (e.g., NEMA 17) to index bottles automatically under the filling nozzle.
Smart Bottle Sensing & Auto-Detection:
Sensors (Infrared, Ultrasonic, or Load Cell scale) to detect bottle presence, alignment, and automatically determine or verify the required volume/height for varying bottle geometries (round, rectangular, tall, short).
Precision High-Accuracy Dispensing:
Peristaltic pump setup or precision solenoid valve with closed-loop load-cell / gravimetric/volumetric measurement for exact milliliter dosing without dripping or loss of liquid.
Structure & Construction:
Modular frame using standard Aluminum Extrusion Profiles (2020, 2030, or 2040).
Custom 3D printable parts for indexing wheels, adjustable bottle clamps, nozzle holders, and sensor mounts.
User Interface (UI):
Screen (LCD / OLED / TFT touch) with keypad or encoder to set total batch count, target liquid volumes, run modes, and start automated cycles.
Required Deliverables:
Complete 3D CAD & Mechanical Assembly Files: Step/STL files ready for 3D printing and aluminum profile cutting/assembly, including motion mechanisms.
Bill of Materials (BOM): Itemized list with exact models (Stepper motors, motor drivers, peristaltic pumps, sensors, power supply, fasteners, profiles).
Detailed Wiring Diagram & Electrical Schematic: Clear guide for connecting drivers, sensors, motors, and microcontroller.
Complete Source Code: Well-structured Arduino / C++ firmware handling motor indexing, sensor reading, pump calibration, and error handling (e.g., stopping when no bottle is present).
Context & Background (Why this custom build?):
I run a growing small business for perfume decanting and custom blending. As demand has recently increased, I researched commercial automated bottling machines, but their high purchasing costs, plus international shipping and customs fees, make them financially unattainable for my current stage as a startup.
Therefore, I am building my own custom automated machine. My goal is to create a reliable, cost-effective, and practical machine that bridge the gap until the business expands enough to purchase high-end industrial machinery.
What this means for the design:
Cost-Efficiency & Practicality: The design should focus on accessible, standard components (standard aluminum profiles, common 3D printing filaments, standard ESP32/Arduino modules, widely available pumps/motors).
Modularity & Scalability: I need a design that is straightforward to build, iterate upon, and maintain locally without requiring rare, expensive industrial parts.
Reliability for Daily Use: While keeping costs sensible, the machine must operate reliably for daily order fulfillment with minimal maintenance.
