Shopify Theme Update — Diff & Migrate Commented Custom Code (Liquid, CSS, JS & CSP)

A new update is available for my current Shopify theme. Because Shopify's automatic theme updater does not carry over custom code modifications inside edited files, I need an experienced Shopify developer who works daily in VS Code (or a similar IDE/diff tool) to identify my custom code blocks and cleanly merge them into the newly updated version of the same theme.
ABOUT ME & WHY I AM OUTSOURCING THIS:
I am a seasoned IT professional and run my own freelancer and agency profiles on Freelancer.com, Upwork, and Fiverr. While I work in IT, I am not a full-time coder and do not use IDE diff tools day-to-day. Doing this manually in the browser would take me hours, whereas a developer who lives in VS Code can run a diff comparison and merge these blocks quickly and cleanly.
SCOPE OF WORK & TECHNICAL DETAILS:
- It is the exact same Shopify theme, just the newer version with recent developer fixes and features.
- All of my custom code is clearly commented and documented inside the files, explaining what each block does.
- Customizations include:
1. Custom Liquid code in specific sections/snippets
2. Custom CSS rules inside .css files
3. Custom JavaScript snippets
4. A Content Security Policy (CSP) inside theme.liquid
- DO NOT simply copy and overwrite entire files from the old theme into the new theme. Overwriting whole files will wipe out the theme developer's new updates and bug fixes. You must use a diff/compare workflow (such as VS Code's Compare tool or Git diff) to isolate ONLY the custom code blocks, trace how the connected files reference each other, and insert those custom blocks into the corresponding spots in the updated theme files.
- You DO NOT need to publish the updated theme live. You will work Strictly inside the unpublished updated theme draft until everything matches the live site.
- I am available to jump on a quick Google Meet screen-share to walk you through all the sections that have custom Liquid and show you exactly how they function on the current live store.
STRICT TERMS & WARNING TO APPLICANTS (READ BEFORE BIDDING):
Because I operate as a freelancer and agency owner on Freelancer, Upwork, and Fiverr myself, and E-Commerce expert. I know every trick in the book on these platforms:
1. NO "PAID AUDITS" OR BAIT-AND-SWITCH: I am well aware of the trend where freelancers blindly bid on a job and immediately ask for extra money upfront just to "check and audit" the files, or try to inflate the scope once in chat. Do not waste your time or mine.
2. HONEST & RELIABLE DEVELOPERS ONLY: I am based in South Africa, and the USD-to-ZAR exchange rate is heavy. Bidding or demanding a ridiculous fee will guarantee you do not get this job. I want an honest, genuine developer who needs the work, respects the posted budget, and isn't looking to take advantage.
3. MUST BE ROUTINE FOR YOU: I will ONLY award this project to someone who agrees this is a straightforward, simple task in their field. If you are uncertain or don't know how to diff and merge Shopify theme files in VS Code within a short timeframe, please do not apply.
HOW TO APPLY:
In your proposal, confirm the following:
1. You agree this is a straightforward diff-and-merge task and you will stick to your bid without asking for "audit" fees.
2. What tool/workflow (e.g., VS Code file comparison, Shopify CLI, Git diff) you will use to compare the old theme files against the new theme version without overwriting the theme update.
3. Agree to work on a budget of $35
