Shopify E-commerce Website Build + 20,000 Automotive Parts Product Migration

I’m looking for an experienced Shopify developer/e-commerce specialist to build a new, professional Shopify store and migrate approximately 20,000 automotive parts listings from an existing website onto the new site.

This is a large-scale project, so I’m specifically looking for someone with proven experience in Shopify development, large product catalogue migrations, web scraping/data extraction, AI-assisted content rewriting and automotive e-commerce.

Project Requirements

1. Shopify Website Build

Build a new Shopify website from scratch, fully completed and ready for me to use and manage.
Create a professional, modern and easy-to-navigate design suitable for an automotive parts business.
Set up the Shopify store, including:
Navigation and menus
Pages
Collections/categories
Product structure
Search
Filters
Essential Shopify settings
Ensure the website is fully responsive and works correctly across desktop, tablet and mobile.
Set up the website so I can easily manage products, orders, customers and website content myself after handover.
2. Migration of Approximately 20,000 Products

I need approximately 20,000 automotive parts listings scraped/exported from an existing website and accurately migrated into Shopify.

The migration should include all relevant product information, including where applicable:

Product names
Product descriptions
SKU/part numbers
Pricing
Product images
Categories
Product attributes
Vehicle compatibility/fitment information
Make
Model
Year
Other relevant specifications and product data
Shipping information/pricing
The freelancer will be responsible for ensuring the migrated data is properly structured, formatted and displayed correctly within Shopify.

3. AI Content Rewriting / Duplicate Content

An important requirement is that the scraped product data must not simply be copied and pasted onto the new website.

Product descriptions and other relevant written content should be rewritten using AI and/or appropriate content-rewriting tools so the new website has unique, original wording and is less likely to be identified as duplicate/copied content.

The original product information must remain accurate, particularly technical specifications, compatibility, part numbers and other factual information.

I would also like the existing website's Terms & Conditions and other relevant website policy content to be rewritten using AI into original wording while maintaining the intended meaning and requirements.

4. Automotive Product Catalogue & Filtering

The product catalogue needs to be structured properly from the beginning so customers can easily find the correct parts.

The Shopify catalogue should support effective searching, sorting and filtering, including filters such as:

Make
Model
Year
Category
Part type
Product type
Other relevant automotive attributes
The catalogue should be structured in a scalable way so additional products and vehicle information can be added easily in the future.

A major priority is making it easy for customers to find the correct part for their vehicle.

5. Shipping Prices

The shipping prices for products should be set up to match the shipping prices/rates used on the original website, where applicable.

I will provide the necessary information/access to the original site so these shipping rates can be reviewed and replicated accurately.

6. Testing & Quality Control

Before the project is considered complete, the website and migrated catalogue should be thoroughly tested.

This should include:

Product pages
Product images
Product descriptions
Pricing
SKUs/part numbers
Vehicle fitment information
Search functionality
Make/model/year filters
Categories and collections
Navigation
Shipping settings/prices
Mobile responsiveness
Overall website functionality
With approximately 20,000 products, accuracy is extremely important. I expect the migration process to include appropriate checks to minimise missing, duplicated or incorrectly formatted products.

Additional Requirements

There will be some additional finer details and requirements that I will provide to the successful freelancer once selected.

I’m also open to recommendations from an experienced Shopify developer if there is a better or more efficient way to structure the catalogue, product data, vehicle fitment system or migration process.

I’m looking for someone who can take ownership of the project from initial Shopify build → data extraction → data cleaning → AI content rewriting → product migration → catalogue/filter structure → testing → final handover, leaving me with a professional Shopify store that is ready to operate.

This version makes the AI rewriting, shipping replication and vehicle filtering explicit, which should help prevent freelancers from quoting only for a basic Shopify build while overlooking the more complex migration work.

* The successful freelancer will first be required to scrape/import a small sample of approximately 50–100 products for approval. Once the data structure, formatting, images, categories and product information have been confirmed, the remaining catalogue can be migrated.
