Shopify Product Data Specialist — Bulk Updates, Product Imports & Ongoing Catalogue Support Across 4 Stores

We are a hair and beauty dropshipping business looking for an experienced Shopify freelancer to support product data updates and catalogue management across four Shopify stores.
Several projects are coming up over the next few weeks. We require a fixed-price for item 1 & 2 noted below. For item 3, we will look for an hourly rate with 8-16 hours assigned monthly (ongoing work) to support our uplift in product listings. There may also be ongoing ad hoc work for a reliable freelancer.
This role is primarily focused on product data, bulk imports and catalogue quality—not website design or theme development.
Fixed Price Work
1. Bulk price and barcode updates across four stores
We have an Excel spreadsheet containing product names and updated selling prices. We also have barcodes for most existing products and some new products.
The work will involve:
- Matching spreadsheet records to the correct products and variants in each store.
- Preparing and carrying out bulk price and barcode updates.
- Applying store-specific selling prices where provided.
- Flagging missing barcodes, unclear matches or conflicting data rather than guessing.
- Checking the completed updates and reporting any exceptions.
Accuracy is essential. Existing product information that is outside the agreed scope must remain unchanged.
2. Importing new products into four Shopify stores
We source new product information from supplier websites. I am currently preparing this data, so the initial requirement is to work with the supplied files—not to scrape supplier websites.
The same source product data will need to be prepared and imported into all four stores. Some products will have different selling prices by store, which will be captured in the spreadsheet.
The work will include checking the supplied data, preparing suitable import files, handling products and variants correctly, avoiding duplicates and verifying the completed imports.
Please identify any missing information or formatting issues before uploading.
Monthly 8-16 hours to work on item #3 as well as other Shopify tasks. Quote hourly for this work.
3. Product catalogue cleanup and SEO/AEO support for one store
We may also need help with product reviews and improvements currently being handled by our full-time admin team.
Tasks may include:
- Reviewing and cleaning up product content and formatting.
- Adding additional authentic product images where available from approved sources.
- Preparing or improving meta titles and meta descriptions.
- Reviewing product tags and applying consistent tagging.
- Improving the clarity, structure and usefulness of product information for search engine optimisation and answer engine optimisation.
- Flagging incomplete, inconsistent or inaccurate product information.
We want careful, product-specific work—not generic keyword stuffing, unsupported product claims or repetitive AI-generated copy.
How we expect you to work
You should be comfortable working independently with spreadsheets and Shopify product data, while asking focused questions when something is unclear.
Before making bulk changes, you will be expected to explain your approach, preserve the existing data, complete an agreed small test batch and obtain approval before proceeding with the full upload.
You should also check your completed work and provide a concise summary of changes, errors and outstanding items.
Website names, sample spreadsheets and detailed requirements will be shared privately with shortlisted applicants.
