We are a B2B SaaS company looking for a research assistant to help us identify online conversations where organizations are actively looking for solutions related to SharePoint intranets.
This is primarily a research and lead-discovery role, not a sales or social-media posting role.
We want to find real questions and discussions where people are trying to solve problems such as:
- Mapping a SharePoint intranet
- Creating a SharePoint sitemap
- Crawling private or authenticated SharePoint sites
- Creating a SharePoint content inventory
- Auditing a SharePoint intranet
- Finding broken links or orphaned pages
- Identifying duplicate content
- SharePoint accessibility / WCAG auditing
- SharePoint information architecture
- SharePoint governance
- Understanding the structure of a large SharePoint environment
You will research places such as Microsoft Tech Community, Reddit, SharePoint Stack Exchange, Microsoft 365 communities, LinkedIn groups, YouTube comments, forums, blogs, and other relevant online communities.
What We Are Looking For
We are not looking for someone to simply search Google for the word "SharePoint."
The goal is to identify conversations where someone has a genuine problem, question, or need that could potentially be solved with a SharePoint mapping, crawling, inventory, or auditing tool.
Quality is much more important than quantity.
For example, this would be useful:
"We have hundreds of SharePoint sites and have no way to visualize how everything is connected. Is there a tool that can create a sitemap?"
This would not be useful:
"What is SharePoint?"
Deliverables
For each opportunity you find, provide:
1. Direct URL to the discussion
2. Platform / website
3. Date posted
4. The problem or question being asked
5. Why it is relevant
6. Intent level: High, Medium, or Low
7. Is vendor participation appropriate? Yes / No / Unsure
8. Suggested response angle, one or two sentences describing how the question could be answered helpfully
Please organize the research in a Google Sheet or Excel spreadsheet.
Important
Do not contact anyone.
Do not post comments or replies.
Do not promote any product.
Your role is to research, identify, and qualify opportunities. We will handle all communication ourselves.
Sources to Research
Examples include:
- Microsoft Tech Community
- Reddit
- SharePoint Stack Exchange
- Microsoft 365 forums and communities
- LinkedIn SharePoint and Microsoft 365 groups
- SharePoint blogs and discussion areas
- YouTube videos and comments
- Other active SharePoint communities you discover
We are especially interested in discussions where someone is actively asking for a tool, solution, recommendation, or method, rather than general SharePoint discussions.
Skills That Would Be Helpful
Experience with one or more of the following is preferred:
- Online research
- SharePoint or Microsoft 365
- B2B lead research
- Community research
- Reddit research
- LinkedIn research
- SaaS research
- Competitive research
You do not need to be a SharePoint developer, but you should be comfortable learning SharePoint terminology and understanding what problem someone is trying to solve.
Initial Paid Test
The first milestone will be a small paid research assignment.
Find 10 online discussions where someone is actively trying to map, crawl, inventory, audit, or better understand a SharePoint intranet.
For each opportunity, provide:
- URL
- Date
- Platform
- The person's actual problem
- Why the opportunity is relevant
- High / Medium / Low intent
- Whether a vendor response would be appropriate
Do not include generic SharePoint questions.
Do not include articles that simply mention SharePoint.
We want actual questions, discussions, requests for recommendations, or clear indications that someone is trying to solve one of these problems.
Applicants who perform well on the test may be offered ongoing weekly research work.
When Applying
Please start your proposal with the words:
SHAREPOINT RESEARCH
This tells us you read the entire project description.
Then answer these three questions:
1. Have you done online community or lead research before? Please briefly describe it.
2. Which websites or communities would you search first for this project?
3. Please provide one example of an online discussion you believe would qualify for this project and explain why.
Please do not send a generic proposal.
