Senior Structural / Product Development Engineer
Modular Steel Building Technology - Structural Cage-Block Development
Project Overview
STEEL ONE is developing a patent-pending modular structural building platform based on precision-manufactured steel cage modules. We are
seeking a senior engineer who can combine structural analysis with product-development thinking and help convert the current concept into an
engineerable prototype.
Primary Responsibilities
• Develop and critique the Structural Cage-Block load path and structural architecture.
• Evaluate member sizing, local reinforcement, bracing and module-to-module load transfer.
• Develop vertical, lateral, corner, opening and foundation connection concepts.
• Perform or direct preliminary FEA and structural calculations.
• Define structural interfaces for doors, windows and façade systems.
• Coordinate closely with manufacturing and façade specialists.
• Identify technical risks and recommend prototype tests.
Required Qualifications
• Strong structural steel engineering background.
• Experience with welded and mechanically connected steel assemblies.
• Experience with modular, prefabricated, industrialized or productized construction is strongly preferred.
• Professional capability in CAD and structural/FEA software.
• Working knowledge of AISC, AWS, ASTM, IBC/ASCE 7 and/or applicable Eurocodes.
• Ability to create fabrication-oriented engineering drawings and specifications.
Preferred Experience
• Provide degree, licenses/certifications and years of relevant experience.
• Show examples of fabricated structural products or assemblies you personally engineered.
• State your preferred structural and CAD/FEA software.
• Explain briefly how you would validate a new modular steel structural concept before fabrication.
• Provide hourly rate or a fixed-fee proposal for Phase 1.
Initial Deliverables
• Mechanical/product engineering experience.
• Experience with steel cassettes, frames, racks, curtain-wall support systems or modular structures.
• Experience taking hardware from concept through prototype testing and design revision.
When Applying
• Engineering review memorandum with major technical risks.
• Recommended cage configuration and preliminary member strategy.
• Preliminary connection concepts.
• Initial CAD model and structural analysis/FEA plan.
• Prototype test recommendations and development roadmap.
Confidentiality: STEEL ONE is proprietary and patent-pending technology. Initial discussions should remain non-confidential. Detailed geometry,
connection concepts, engineering information and manufacturing details should be shared only after an NDA/IP agreement is in place.
Engagement structure: Milestone-based. The first phase should focus on review, technical critique and a clearly defined development plan before
deeper engineering work begins.
