Job Purpose The Senior Director of Robotic Process Automation is responsible for leading and scaling the organization's RPA center of excellence within a healthcare and life sciences environment. This role provides strategic direction, operational oversight, and people leadership to grow a high-performing automation team that delivers measurable business value across clinical, administrative, and operational functions.

Strategy & Program Management
Develop and execute an RPA roadmap aligned to enterprise digital transformation objectives
Establish and maintain an RPA governance framework including prioritization, standards, change management, and risk controls
Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) including FTE savings, bot uptime, ROI, and delivery velocity
Report program performance and strategic recommendations to senior and executive leadership
Delivery & Operations
Oversee end-to-end delivery of automation projects from intake through deployment and steady-state operations
Maintain and improve the reliability and performance of the existing production bot automation population
Ensure all automations comply with HIPAA, SOC 2, and organizational security and audit requirements
Partner with IT, cybersecurity, and compliance to support system access, infrastructure, and change management processes
People Leadership
Recruit, develop, and retain a team of RPA developers, coordinators, and business analysts
Set clear performance expectations, conduct regular reviews, and support career development planning
Foster a team culture centered on continuous improvement, accountability, and innovation
Drive automation awareness and capability building across business stakeholder teams
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
Manage relationships with RPA platform vendors (e.g., UiPath)
Collaborate with revenue cycle, and denial management leaders to identify and prioritize automation opportunities
Oversee vendor contracts, licensing, and platform roadmap alignment
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience
10 or more years of experience in RPA process automation, digital transformation, or enterprise technology
5 or more years of people management experience, including direct management of technical staff
Demonstrated experience scaling an RPA program or center of excellence in a regulated industry
Proficiency with the RPA platform (UiPath)
Working knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare data governance requirements
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to executive audiences
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree or MBA
RPA platform certification (UiPath, Automation Anywhere, or equivalent)
Experience with Epic, Cerner, or other major EHR platforms
Familiarity with AI/ML tools, NLP, or document intelligence solutions used in automation workflows
Background in Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies

This position operates primarily in a remote. The role may require occasional travel to organizational facilities or vendor sites. Extended hours may be required during critical project phases or system incidents.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to move around the work area; Sit; perform manual tasks; operate tools and other office equipment such as computer, computer peripherals and telephones; extend arms; kneel; talk and hear
Mental Demands: The employee must be able to follow directions, collaborate with others, and handle stress
Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal
