We’re looking for aSenior Australian Tax Accountantto support one of our Australian clients across tax and accounting matters forindividuals, companies, trusts, and superannuation funds.
This is a quality-over-quantity hire. You’ll take ownership of work from start to finish, investigate when the numbers don’t tell the whole story, and deliver accurate, review-ready work without needing someone looking over your shoulder.
If you know your way around Australian tax and can confidently turn complex accounts into clean, compliant outcomes, this could be your next move.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, and superannuation funds.
Reconcile GST accounts, ATO information, and BAS statements.
Prepare monthly and quarterly Business Activity Statements and Income Activity Statements.
Prepare and review PAYG statements.
Advise clients on Australian tax and reporting obligations.
Research Australian tax legislation and requirements.
Prepare full tax plans for review.
Prepare and review superannuation reports.
Manage end-to-end accounting work with minimal supervision.
Investigate discrepancies and resolve accounting issues.
Produce accurate, complete, and review-ready work.
Communicate proactively with clients and the wider accounting team.
Requirements
Required Qualifications (Must-Have):
Around7+ years of relevant accounting experience.
Strong experience working withAustralian accounting firms / Australian public practice.
Solid knowledge ofAustralian taxation.
Proven end-to-end accounting experience.
StrongXerocapability.
Proficiency inExcel.
Knowledge ofDivision 7A.
Experience preparing tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, and superannuation funds.
Experience withGST, BAS, PAYG, and ATO reconciliations.
Ability to work independently with minimal manager supervision.
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate work consistently.
Stable track record in similar accounting roles.
Proactive, reliable, and professional approach to work.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience preparing full tax plans.
Experience preparing and reviewing superannuation reports.
Strong Australian tax legislation research skills.
Demonstrated ability to identify and investigate accounting discrepancies before review.
