I am looking for a freelancer who has personally experienced an Upwork Hourly Payment Protection (HPP) denial or reversal of hourly earnings and successfully recovered the money. Proof of successful recovery is mandatory.
My Situation
I am based in India and have a dispute involving $250 in reversed earnings for 10 hours of work under an hourly Upwork contract with a U.S.-based client.
My working hours were tracked through the Upwork Desktop App.
The client's billing method was shown as verified when the contract started.
On September 21, 2026, Upwork paused the contract due to an issue with the client's account.
On September 22, Upwork Support stated in writing that billing attempts would continue until September 30 and that my logged hours would then be reviewed for HPP if payment could not be collected.
On September 29, Upwork reversed my $250 in earnings and subsequently denied HPP, citing a client-side billing condition.
Upwork has informed me that its internal review is closed.
