I need a complete, in-house GPS tracking solution that can comfortably serve well over 50,000 vehicles without relying on the off-the-shelf Chinese systems we currently use. The project covers three client surfaces—Web, iOS, and Android—plus a robust back-end able to ingest, process, and store high-frequency location data in real time.
Core functionality must include: real-time vehicle tracking on dynamic maps, configurable geofencing with instant alerts, and long-term historical data retention ready for playback or bulk export. Alerts are critical: push, SMS, and email should all be configurable through an easy rule engine. I also need an integrated payments & billing module so we can manage subscriptions and automatically invoice clients. An open, well-documented API link system is essential; third-party partners will pull data into their own applications, so token-based authentication, rate limiting, and versioning have to be baked in from day one.
Because scale is non-negotiable, I’m expecting horizontal architecture choices—micro-services or similar, container orchestration, message queues for ingest bursts, and a resilient storage layer that can be sharded as the fleet grows. Security (encryption in transit and at rest, role-based access, GDPR-ready user consent flows) must be treated as first-class requirements, not afterthoughts.
Deliverables
• Production-ready Web portal, iOS app, and Android app
• Cloud or on-prem back-end with source code, CI/CD pipelines, and IaC scripts
• Admin console for account management, payments & billing, and system monitoring
• REST/GraphQL API with complete documentation and Postman collection
• Deployment and scaling guide, plus hand-over training session
• Two-week post-launch support window for critical fixes
Acceptance criteria will revolve around concurrent-load benchmarks (50,000 active vehicles with location packets every 10 seconds), alert latency under three seconds, 99.9% API uptime in monitored tests, and a successful pilot covering at least 500 vehicles before full production cut-over.
If you have verifiable experience building large-scale tracking or IoT platforms on Web, iOS, and Android, I’d like to see architectural diagrams or live demos that prove it.
