Overview:
SAS is a new mobile app (iOS + Android, launching this week) that guides homeowners in Kuwait through their entire home-building journey — from permits to key handover. Core features: a construction cost estimator, step-by-step educational guidance, project & expense tracking, a building-materials marketplace, and water-tanker ordering. The app is Arabic-first (RTL) and targets Kuwaiti homeowners aged 25–55 who are building or planning to build a private home.
Objective:
Identify usability problems in the core user journeys before our full marketing launch, and deliver a prioritized, actionable list of fixes. We want evidence (recordings + metrics), not opinions — and we expect you to go beyond finding problems: tell us what would make users love this app, not just tolerate it.
Scope — 6 journeys to test:
First-time onboarding & account creation
Using the cost estimator (inputs → estimated cost result)
Creating a project + logging an expense with an invoice photo
Browsing the marketplace, adding materials to cart, reaching checkout
Ordering a water tanker (instant order + subscription flow)
Finding and starting the educational content for the user's current build stage
Participants (recruited by you):
8–10 participants: native Arabic speakers from the Gulf — Kuwait strongly preferred
Must be homeowners currently building, planning to build within 2 years, or recently finished building
Mix of iOS and Android; mix of ages 25–55; include at least 2–3 women (they drive finishing-stage decisions)
Please state your recruitment method and screener questions in your proposal
Methodology (proposal should confirm or improve on this):
Moderated remote sessions (45–60 min each) with think-aloud protocol, in Arabic
Task-based scenarios with success/failure criteria per task
Metrics: task success rate, time-on-task, error counts, SUS (System Usability Scale) score
Post-session interview (5–10 min) on trust, clarity of pricing, and willingness to pay/subscribe
Deliverables:
Test plan + task scripts (for our approval before sessions start)
Screener + participant profiles
Session recordings (screen + audio) with timestamps of key incidents
Findings report: every issue rated by severity (Critical / Major / Minor / Cosmetic), with screenshots, affected journey, and a concrete fix recommendation
Top-10 prioritized quick wins for the next release
SUS score + task-success summary table
Improvement recommendations report: beyond fixing problems — concrete suggestions to make the app better: UX/UI enhancements, flow simplifications, feature ideas users asked for or expected during sessions, and "moments of confusion vs. moments of delight." Each suggestion ranked on an Impact vs. Effort matrix so we know what to build first.
Competitive benchmark (light): compare our 6 core journeys against 2–3 comparable apps (construction, marketplace, or fintech onboarding in the GCC) and highlight 5 practices worth adopting.
A 60-minute readout call with our founders (English or Arabic) covering findings and improvement roadmap
Timeline: Test plan within 2 days of kickoff; sessions completed within 7 days; final report within 9 days total.
What we provide: TestFlight/Play internal-testing access, feature walkthrough, target personas, and one point of contact for daily questions.
Freelancer requirements:
Proven UX research/usability testing experience (share 2 sample reports or case studies — redacted is fine)
Native or fluent Arabic; experience with RTL apps is a strong plus
Experience with GCC users is a strong plus
You must sign our NDA before receiving app access
In your proposal, briefly describe: your testing process, how you recruit Gulf participants, and one usability issue you're proud of catching in a past project
Budget & bids: Please quote a fixed price covering recruitment incentives + sessions + report, with a per-participant breakdown.
Confidentiality: The app is unreleased in its full form. All materials, flows, and findings are confidential and covered by NDA.
