S/4HANA Specialist for TMS/API Integration

Scope of Work: S/4HANA Integration Consultant – TMS & APIs

This mission requires a Techno-Functional SAP Specialist who bridges the gap between
S/4HANA functional customizing (TM/SD/MM/LE) and technical API/middleware
integration (REST/SOAP, JSON/XML).
Part-time well paid : 2 to 3 hours per DAY ( Europe time zone Remotely)
1. Freight Order (FO) Core Management
The core focus of the mission revolves around the lifecycle, configuration, and
integration of Freight Orders within S/4HANA:
 Freight Order Structure & Data Model: Understanding the hierarchy of header
data, stages, items, cargo units, capacity units, and carrier assignment in S/4.
 Inbound & Outbound FO APIs: Mapping incoming transport plans from the
external TMS to create/update Freight Orders in S/4HANA (and vice-versa).
 Execution & Status Management: Handling execution status updates (e.g., In
Execution, Completed, Canceled), tendering statuses, and operational changes
(e.g., carrier re-assignments, quantity adjustments).
 Freight Unit Assignment: Managing how Freight Units (FUs) are attached to or
detached from Freight Orders via interface updates.

2. Upstream & Downstream Logistics Objects (Beyond Freight Orders)
A robust TMS integration relies on end-to-end alignment across the supply chain:
 Sales Orders & Purchase Orders (Demand): Generation and management of
Freight Units (FUs) based on sales or purchase order requirements.
 Inbound & Outbound Deliveries: Synchronization of picking, packing, and goods
issue/receipt statuses triggered by TMS execution events.
 Freight Units (FU) & Building Rules: Configuration of Freight Unit Building Rules
(FUBR) to split or aggregate order items before exchanging data with the external
TMS.

3. API, Integration & Financial Flow
Handling data exchanges and financial settlement between S/4HANA and the external
TMS:
 Payload Mapping & Structure: Defining JSON schemas and XML/XSD structures
for OData and SOAP web services.
 Track & Trace / Event Handling: Ingestion of execution milestones (e.g.,
departure, customs clearance, proof of delivery) via Webhooks or standard APIs.
 Freight Settlement & Costing: Ingestion of calculated freight costs from the TMS
into S/4 to generate Freight Settlement Documents (FSDs), service purchase
orders, and service entry sheets in S/4 Finance (FI/CO).
 Monitoring & Error Handling: Setting up monitoring frameworks like SAP AIF
(Application Interface Framework) or SAP CPI / PI/PO logs to trace and reprocess
failed payloads.

4. Hands-on S/4HANA Customizing (SPRO)
Direct configuration in the Development and Test environments:
Domain Key S/4 Configuration Tasks (SPRO)
Document Types
Setting up Freight Order Types, Freight Booking Types, and
Freight Unit Types.
Output & Messaging
(BRF+)
Configuring BRF+ (Business Rule Framework plus) to
trigger outbound REST/SOAP calls upon document events.
Integration & Change
Management
Configuring change-driven triggers to re-send or update
APIs when Freight Orders or Deliveries are modified in S/4.
Master Data Mapping
Aligning S/4 master data (Business Partners / Carriers,
Locations, Means of Transport, Handling Units) with
external TMS code lists.
