Can you turn social media followers into people who donate, share, and stay with a cause? We're looking for a nonprofit-savvy social media and brand manager to help a young organization build trust from day one.
**ABOUT US**
The AVID Foundation is a Canadian non-profit that refurbishes and sustains libraries in under-resourced Nigerian schools, starting in Lagos. Every library project covers five things: renovating the space, locally built furniture, books weighted toward Nigerian and African authors and aligned with the national curriculum, a simple cataloguing system, and training for school staff.
We're at an early stage. Our first cohort of schools is about to begin, and our Instagram and LinkedIn accounts are just getting started.
Website: www.theavidfoundation.org
**WHAT YOU'LL DO**
• **Content creation:** Design graphics, carousels and short videos, with captions that fit our established brand (logo, colours, voice). Build reusable templates so everything we post looks consistent.
• **Impact storytelling:** Turn field updates from Lagos into clear visual stories that show progress and accountability. These include before-and-after photos, furniture builds, book deliveries, teacher training, and students using their new library.
• **Audience and hashtag research:** Find the hashtags, communities and accounts that reach our audiences. These are individual donors in Canada, the Nigerian diaspora, educators, literacy and book communities, and institutional and grant funders on LinkedIn.
• **Platform management:** Plan a monthly content calendar. Schedule posts on Instagram and LinkedIn (our priorities), plus Facebook and Threads.
• **Fundraising engagement:** Plan and run social campaigns around giving moments such as GivingTuesday, International Literacy Day and our school launches. Each campaign needs clear calls to action that move followers to our website and donation page.
• **Community management:** Respond to comments and messages, and engage with partner and peer organizations.
• **Brand stewardship:** Keep everything we publish on-brand, and help shape our short-, medium- and long-term social media strategy.
• **Reporting:** Send a short monthly report covering what we posted, what worked, and how followers are turning into website visits, sign-ups and donations.
**WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR**
• A portfolio of social media work for nonprofits, NGOs or charities
• Strong design skills in Canva, and excellent written English
• Experience with ethical, dignity-first storytelling. Our work involves children, so you'll follow consent and safeguarding practices. That means no identifying details without permission and no pity-driven imagery.
• Familiarity with both Nigerian and Canadian audiences (a strong asset)
**SCOPE**
• 2-3 posts per week across Instagram and LinkedIn, plus campaign content as needed
• Ongoing monthly engagement, starting with a paid one-month trial
• Fully remote
**HOW TO APPLY**
Start your proposal with the words "Turning Page" so we know you've read this. Then share:
1. 2–3 nonprofit social media projects you've worked on, and what they achieved
2. How you would turn a single photo of a newly renovated school library into a post that builds donor trust
3. Your proposed monthly rate and what it includes
