I’m preparing to release my third novel, The Reluctant Centurion, and I need a striking yet historically grounded cover ready for both Kindle Direct Publishing and Barnes & Noble Press.
Visual direction
• Centrepiece: a head-and-shoulders portrait of a Roman centurion in authentic armour. The mood must feel serious and true-to-history, not stylised or fantasy-driven.
• Background: a dark, lightly textured backdrop that lets the figure, title, and my name (Barry Cronin) stand out without distraction.
Technical notes
• Final files must meet current KDP paperback and e-book specs as well as B&N’s print guidelines—full-bleed PDFs plus layered source files (PSD or AI) so I can make minor text tweaks later.
• Spine and back-cover template sizing will follow the exact page count I’ll supply once typesetting is final.
• Embedded fonts should be either licensed for print or outlined.
Acceptance criteria
1. Front cover mock-up reflecting the brief for review.
2. Up to two revision rounds to fine-tune colour, typography, and historical details.
3. Print-ready and digital-ready deliverables signed off by both KDP and B&N preview tools.
If you have a portfolio piece featuring classical or military subjects, I’d love to see it alongside your bid.
