I need a business-grade customer management system tailored for a retail environment. The core goal is to consolidate all shopper data—profiles, purchase history, loyalty information and basic support tickets—into one intuitive web app so my front-of-house team and back-office staff always see the same, real-time view of every customer.
Scope of work
• Build a responsive web application that can be accessed from desktop POS terminals and tablets on the shop floor.
• Key modules: customer onboarding, searchable customer directory, purchase-history timeline, notes & follow-up reminders, basic analytics (top buyers, dormant customers) and role-based access.
• Admin panel for me to add or edit fields, import legacy CSV data and export segmented lists for email campaigns.
• Clean, modern UI that matches our current brand colours (style guide supplied after hire).
• Source code handed over in a Git repository, clearly commented and accompanied by a short README explaining setup.
Tech considerations
I’m open to the stack but favour something mainstream—think Laravel / React, Django / Vue, or full-stack JavaScript—so future hires can maintain it easily. A lightweight SQL database (MySQL or PostgreSQL) is fine; if you recommend NoSQL, explain why.
Acceptance criteria
1. I can create, search, edit and archive a customer in under 20 seconds on a mid-range tablet.
2. Import of a 5,000-row CSV completes without errors and all records display correctly.
3. Role permissions block cashiers from viewing profitability reports while allowing managers full access.
4. System deployed on my VPS (Ubuntu 22.04) with HTTPS and automatic daily backups configured.
Timeline & communication
I’d like an initial clickable prototype within two weeks, followed by weekly progress updates until final delivery. Feel free to suggest sensible milestones—design, MVP, polish—so we can keep momentum.
If your background includes retail CRMs or similar customer-centric apps, tell me about it when you bid and include a link or short video of your most relevant project.
