Restore Hacked WordPress via FTP

My WordPress site was hacked and, in my attempt to fix it through cPanel, I accidentally broke the installation even further—the front end is now completely down. I do, however, have a full website backup (files + database, at least 2 month) ready to upload.

The job is straightforward: connect over FTP or cPanel File Manager, clean out the compromised files(if any, asssume that 100% recover), restore the backup correctly, and make sure the site loads normally again. Once everything is back online I’d like a quick security sweep—update core, themes, and plugins, remove leftover malware traces, and tighten basic permissions—so the same breach doesn’t happen twice.

If you have solid WordPress recovery experience and can work directly over FTP/cPanel, this should be a fast turnaround task.
