WordPress site went down in the middle of a core update and is now showing a plain “HTTP ERROR 500” on every page, including the admin area. I already deleted the .maintenance file in hopes it would snap back, but that changed nothing.
Here’s what you’ll be walking into
• Latest WordPress version attempted mid-update
• Unknown plugin/theme conflict is possible
• No other troubleshooting steps have been run beyond removing the maintenance file
What success looks like to me
1. The frontend and wp-admin both load normally.
2. Updates are completed safely without breaking anything else.
3. You let me know what went wrong and how you fixed it so I can avoid a repeat.
If you’re confident with cPanel/SSH, PHP error tracing, and restoring WordPress after a failed update, I’m ready to give you access right away.
