# Civil / Structural Engineer & Remote Construction Manager – Residential Project

We are seeking an experienced **Civil/Structural Engineer with practical construction management experience** to assist in completing a residential construction project

The successful freelancer will act as our remote technical adviser and construction planning manager, helping us manage local construction workers, control materials and costs, and ensure construction follows approved engineering requirements.

### Project Details
- Approximately 96 m² residential building
- Two separate two-bedroom flats
- Retaining wall approximately 14 m long and 2 m high
- Existing concrete walls will be retained where suitable
- External concrete block walls approximately 2.7 m high
- New timber roof framing and roofing sheets
- Concrete works, plumbing, electrical, tiling and finishing
- Some construction work has already been completed

### Responsibilities

1. Review existing drawings, photographs and construction progress.
2. Assess structural concerns and identify required engineering inspections.
3. Prepare or coordinate structural calculations and construction details within the engineer's competence.
4. Prepare a detailed Bill of Quantities (BOQ), including materials and labour.
5. Prepare a stage-by-stage construction programme.
6. Recommend the number and type of workers required each week.
7. Prepare weekly material purchasing lists.
8. Review daily site photographs and progress reports.
9. Provide technical guidance to our local workers and site supervisor.
10. Monitor expenditure against the project budget.
11. Attend scheduled online meetings through Zoom or WhatsApp.
12. Identify construction risks, defects and corrective actions.

### Required Qualifications

- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Experience in residential construction
- Experience in retaining walls, reinforced concrete and timber roof construction
- Ability to prepare BOQs and construction schedules
- Knowledge of relevant engineering standards
- Good English communication
- Previous experience managing construction projects remotely is preferred
