We are looking for a 3D Designer, 3D Artist or 3D Modeller to support an existing project within our company. The initial project involves creating a set of four highly accurate, photorealistic nitrile glove models for use within an AR/VR application.
Photorealism and physical accuracy are the most important requirements for this project. The finished models need to closely replicate the physical products, including their shape, proportions, dimensions, colour, material properties and surface characteristics.
We will provide plenty of reference photography and product information to help achieve an accurate result.
The Project
We have a physical set of four nitrile gloves that need to be modelled, textured and prepared for use in our AR/VR application.
There are four gloves in total, although two are essentially the same glove with a colour variation. A common base model can therefore be used and adapted where appropriate.
The gloves need to be created at 1:1 real-world dimensions and should accurately represent the physical product.
Key Requirements
The models should:
Be modelled to accurate real-world dimensions
Closely replicate the physical gloves in terms of shape, proportions and form
Have highly realistic nitrile materials and textures
Accurately reproduce visible surface characteristics
Include appropriate fine details such as wrinkles, folds, creases and surface variation
Have clean, well-organised topology
Use enough geometry to achieve a high level of realism without unnecessarily subdividing the models
Be optimised with the final AR/VR application in mind
Maintain a good balance between visual quality, geometry and performance
The finished assets should look as close to the physical products as possible. We are not looking for generic glove models or simple approximations.
Software
Our preferred workflow is 3ds Max and/or Blender, so experience with either of these would be advantageous.
Deliverables
The final delivery must include:
4 completed GLB models
All required textures and materials
Correctly set up and functioning materials within the GLB files
All working/source files used to create the models
Any relevant texture maps or supporting assets
The final GLB assets must be suitable for use within an AR/VR application, with appropriate optimisation while maintaining the required level of realism.
Timeframe
We expect this project to take approximately 1–1.5 days for an experienced 3D artist, although we are open to discussing the timeframe
We welcome applications from all experience levels. The quality of the final result is more important to us than the number of years you have been working in 3D.
Potential for Further Work
This is initially a one-off project, but there is potential for further freelance work.
If the quality of the work meets our requirements, we would be interested in adding the successful freelancer to our network of trusted freelance 3D artists for future projects.
How to Apply
Please provide:
Examples of your photorealistic 3D work
Examples of product modelling and/or realistic material work
Your preferred 3D software
Your estimated turnaround time
Your quote for completing the project
Confirmation that you can provide the final assets in GLB format, along with all working/source files
When submitting your portfolio, please prioritise examples demonstrating photorealistic materials, detailed modelling and accurate replication of real-world products.
We are looking for someone who can produce a result that genuinely holds up against the physical product, with a strong focus on realism, accuracy and efficient geometry for real-time use.
