Job Title: Full-Stack Developer Needed: Real-Time Automotive Auction Site (WordPress Frontend + 100% Live WebSocket Backend)
Project Overview:
We are launching a highly optimized, un-crashable online automotive auction marketplace for classic cars and trucks. The frontend layout will be built using WordPress (Elementor Pro). To ensure the site never crashes during high-traffic closing windows and feels exactly like Bring a Trailer, we require an expert developer to decouple the real-time data layer from the core website database.
Required Core Deliverables:
1. 100% Live Connection (No Browser Refresh): The individual vehicle auction listing pages must utilize a permanent, bi-directional WebSocket connection (via Firebase Realtime DB, Supabase, or Pusher). The countdown clock, high bid amount, total bid count, and chronological bidding history log must update dynamically on the screen in real time with zero latency and absolutely no page reloads.
2. Anti-Sniping Clock Engine: Configure clock-extension logic inside the real-time database. If any live user places a bid in the final 2 minutes of an auction, the remaining countdown clock must automatically reset to precisely 2 minutes and instantly broadcast that change to all connected screens.
3. Off-Server Media Pipeline: Configure a front-end submission form that allows sellers to upload 60+ images and multiple videos. Photos must automatically compress (converting to WebP format) and route directly into an Amazon S3 Bucket or DigitalOcean Spaces to prevent WordPress database bloat. Videos must be delivered via YouTube iframe embeds.
4. Stripe Connect Integration: Set up secure credit card vaulting and pre-authorization token holds for our 2% buyer fee (with a strict $150 minimum fee rule) whenever a live user places a bid. The system must release holds for losing bidders instantly upon auction close.
5. Analytics & Tracking Pixels: Install and verify conversion event tracking across Google Tag Manager, GA4, and the Meta Tracking Pixel so our $4,000/month advertising budget can accurately track user account registrations and completed vehicle submissions.
Additional Scope:
The platform will focus on cars and trucks from 1990 or older as well as boats of any year, make, or model.
To Apply:
Please start your application with the word "Piston" so I know you read the full scope. Provide direct links to high-traffic marketplaces or real-time data streaming applications you have personally built utilizing WebSockets.
