React–Node Billing App Development

I’m building a small-scale billing web app and need you to take it from idea to deployable code. The tech stack is fixed—React (hooks + functional components) on the front end, Node.js with Express on the back end, and MySQL for data storage.

Core focus
The heart of the system is invoice generation. Every invoice must be produced as a PDF, saved to the database, and retrievable from a client’s record. A flexible template engine is essential: I want to tweak colours, fonts, and layout without touching code and, most importantly, drop our company logo into the header of every invoice.

What I expect the finished product to include
• React UI for customer, product, tax and invoice management
• RESTful API in Node.js/Express with JWT-based auth and basic role control (admin, staff, read-only)
• Template designer or configuration screen that lets me adjust the invoice look and upload/replace the logo
• PDF rendering (e.g., pdfmake, Puppeteer, or similar—your call)
• MySQL schema, seed data scripts, and migration files
• Docker-compose or bash scripts so I can spin the stack up on an Ubuntu VPS
• Brief but clear setup & usage docs

Acceptance criteria
1. I can create, edit, and delete clients, products, and invoices from the React interface.
2. Hitting the “Generate” button produces a PDF that reflects the current template settings and embeds the logo.
3. All endpoints are authenticated; unauthenticated calls return 401.
4. The project builds in one command and runs cleanly in Docker on my server.
