About JawBuddy
We build a mobile app that helps people with jaw pain (TMJ, bruxism) through guided exercise programs. The app uses the phone's camera and AR to measure jaw mobility and adapts the treatment plan from there. Our main market is Germany and the wider DACH region. The app is German and English, iOS and Android, built in React Native.
Why we need you
Our users range from 18-year-olds to patients in their 70s referred by their dentist, many of whom run their phones at the largest accessibility text sizes. We ship one to two releases a week. Our small engineering team can't manually re-verify every screen across every device, OS version and font scale — and that's exactly where our bugs come from. One example: some Android devices couldn't play our 10-bit exercise videos and we only found out late.
What you'll do
Run release regression passes on real devices before each build goes out (iOS and Android, phones and tablets, small screens through Pro Max)
Test every screen across the full range of accessibility text sizes (XS to XXL) and system font scaling, plus display size and bold-text settings
Validate the AR jaw-measurement flow: camera permissions, lighting conditions, ARKit/ARCore device support, graceful fallbacks on unsupported hardware
Check video playback and media performance across Android makes and chipsets
Verify German and English localisation (text overflow, truncation, date/number formats)
Write clear, reproducible bug reports in Linear with severity, device, OS version, settings and a screen recording
Maintain and grow a living test plan / regression checklist so coverage doesn't depend on memory
Send a short status summary after each test cycle: what was covered, what broke, what's blocking release
You should have
Hands-on mobile QA experience, ideally with React Native apps
Access to (or willingness to work with) a spread of real Android devices — we can also ship you devices
A genuine eye for accessibility, not just as a checkbox
Written German and English
Comfort working async with a small, fast-moving team
Nice to have
Experience with ARKit / ARCore or camera-based features
Experience in a regulated or medical-device context (MDR, ISO 13485, GDPR)
Some test automation (Detox, Maestro, Appium) — we'd like to automate the regression suite over time
