Python Tool: Swiss Company Leads

Project Overview

I am looking for an experienced Python developer to build an automated solution for researching companies in Switzerland.

The solution will use an Excel file containing Swiss municipalities as input. Based on these municipalities, the system should identify companies, collect relevant business information, and subsequently analyze company websites to discover contact information and email addresses.

The solution must be fully automated, scalable, and executable on Windows 11.

Preferred Data Source

The company search should preferably be conducted using the Google Places API.

If alternative or additional data sources are proposed, they must be clearly described and justified in the proposal.

Direct scraping of Google Maps is only acceptable if it complies with applicable terms of use and can be operated reliably and sustainably over time.

The freelancer is expected to recommend the most suitable approach for processing approximately 30,000 companies in Switzerland.

Phase 1: Company Discovery

For each municipality listed in the provided Excel file, the solution should identify as many companies as possible.

The following information should be collected:

Company name
Street address
Street number
Postal code
City/Municipality
Phone number
Website URL
Business category / industry
Google Place ID and/or Google Maps URL
Geographic coordinates (if available)

The system should include mechanisms to detect and eliminate duplicate companies.

Phase 2: Website Analysis

After identifying companies, the solution should analyze their websites to discover contact information.

General Email Addresses

The system should search for common business email addresses such as:

Personal Email Addresses

Where available, the system should identify personal contacts and collect:

First name
Last name
Job title / role
Email address

Priority should be given to contacts such as:

Head of Marketing

If multiple relevant contacts are found, all available contacts should be included.

Output File

The final results should be exported to Excel (.xlsx).

Important Requirement

The proposal must include a complete estimate of all expected operating costs.

The freelancer must provide:

List of all APIs and data sources used
Google Places API costs
Costs of any additional Google APIs
Costs of third-party services (if applicable)
Monthly operating costs
Cost per 10,000 requests
Cost per 100,000 requests
Estimated total cost for processing approximately 30,000 Swiss companies

The cost calculation must be submitted together with the proposal.

Please explain in your proposal:

How companies will be discovered using the Google Places API.

The solution is intended to process approximately 30,000 Swiss companies.

Applicants should provide a recommendation on whether the Google Places API is the best option for this project and explain any alternative approaches that may provide better coverage, lower costs, or improved data quality.

The proposal must clearly separate:

One-time development costs
API and infrastructure costs
Ongoing operating costs

Preference will be given to solutions that are scalable, maintainable, cost-efficient, and compliant with the terms and conditions of the selected data sources.
