Our Azure-hosted platform needs a new Python backend layer that exposes clean, well-documented RESTful endpoints and talks directly to Azure SQL Database. The service will act as the glue between our existing micro-services and several external systems, so reliability, clear mapping of data models, and secure authentication are essential.
I already have the database schema and Azure resources in place; what’s missing is the Python code that will:
• Open and manage pooled connections to Azure SQL Database (preferably with async support).
• Translate incoming JSON payloads into efficient SQL queries or stored-procedure calls.
• Return structured JSON responses with proper error handling and logging.
• Fit naturally into our Azure DevOps pipeline for automated testing and containerised deployment.
Tooling & stack guidance:
– Python 3.10+ with FastAPI or Flask-RESTX.
– SQLAlchemy (Core or ORM) or an equivalent lightweight driver.
– Azure CLI / Bicep or Terraform scripts for repeatable resource provisioning.
– Unit tests written with pytest and coverage reports.
