I am developing a performance undergarment specifically for contact or high-impact sports, where the primary job of the piece is to protect sensitive body areas while still feeling light and breathable. I need an apparel designer who already understands the workout/athleisure space to guide the entire pre-production phase—from fabric selection through to a factory-ready tech pack and CAD flats.
Here is what I expect:
• Material sourcing: Research and recommend protective, moisture-managing knit fabrics (and any specialty padding or lamination) that can withstand repeated impact while remaining comfortable. Provide supplier details and MOQ information so I can request quotes immediately.
• CAD & pattern visuals: Create clear front, back and interior construction views that highlight placement of protective zones, seamlines, and any compression panels. Files should be editable (Adobe Illustrator preferred) and include colour call-outs.
• Full tech pack: Measurements, grading rules, BOM, stitch specs, trim call-outs, testing standards, and packaging notes. The document must be detailed enough that a factory unfamiliar with the product can cost and sample accurately on the first pass.
Once you deliver the tech pack and CAD files, I should be able to send everything directly to a manufacturer for sampling without additional revisions. If you have contacts at sportswear factories or testing labs, please note that, as it will be a bonus.
If you have created protective base layers, padded shorts, or similar high-impact garments before, share examples in your proposal and outline the tools you use (e.g., Illustrator, CLO3D, Optitex). Looking forward to collaborating on gear that keeps athletes safe and confident.
