Project 535: Wake Word Audio Recording

We are helping build a voice assistant that wakes up when you say a phrase, similar to “Hey Siri” or “Alexa”. We are collecting short voice recordings from 1,000 everyday US English speakers, recorded on their own phones at home.

We are looking for native US English speakers who are 18 years or older. Each participant will record 48 short audio clips: 30 of the wake phrase and 18 of a similar-sounding phrase. Clips are recorded at three speaking speeds (slow, medium and fast), from a distance from the phone that we assign to you.
