Our small-scale chemical plant recently experienced several near-miss events—minor leaks and a worrying pressure spike on one of the stainless-steel reactors. I need a qualified chemical engineer to analyse the current operating conditions, identify root causes of these safety risks, and deliver a practical, step-by-step action plan that the production team can implement without lengthy shutdowns.
Scope
• Review existing P&IDs, operating procedures, and sensor data (temperature, pressure, flow) for the reactor train, storage tanks, and transfer lines.
• Pin-point the most probable leak sources, over-pressure scenarios, and potential ignition points.
• Quantify risk levels using recognised methods (e.g., HAZOP, LOPA) and back findings with concise calculations.
• Translate those findings into a sequenced list of corrective measures—materials upgrades, valve replacements, alarm set-point tweaks, preventive-maintenance intervals, training topics—clearly prioritised by risk reduction and ease of execution.
Deliverable
A single PDF (or editable Word document) that includes:
1. Brief summary of root causes.
2. Risk matrix highlighting high-priority items.
3. Detailed, numbered action steps with estimated downtime, cost class (low/med/high), and responsible discipline.
4. Any supporting schematics or mark-ups.
Acceptance Criteria
• Recommendations align with relevant standards (API, NFPA, OSHA PSM).
• Calculations and references are transparent and traceable.
• Action list is immediately actionable by my in-house maintenance crew.
I will supply operating data, drawings, and incident logs once we agree on the job. Please indicate similar safety projects you have completed and your typical turnaround time.
