Our main database is already running on PostgreSQL 13 (anything in the “12.x or higher” family), and I need an experienced DBA to step in and tighten two things:

First, Database optimization. The work includes reviewing current configuration parameters, checking execution plans, tuning indexes, and suggesting any schema changes that will noticeably reduce latency under peak load. If extensions (pg_stat_statements, auto_explain, etc.) should be enabled or configuration values (shared_buffers, work_mem, effective_cache_size and friends) adjusted, please make those recommendations backed by data.

Second, Backup and recovery. I want a clear, scripted process—preferably with pg_dump and/or a modern tool such as pgBackRest or Barman—that covers daily backups, point-in-time recovery, and regular restore tests. The goal is zero-guesswork recovery if an incident occurs.

Deliverables
• A concise optimization report with before/after metrics and the exact parameter or index changes applied
• Automated backup scripts (bash, Ansible, or similar) plus a documented, tested restore procedure
• A short hand-off document so ongoing maintenance can be handled in-house

Access will be through SSH to a staging replica first, then production after validation. No budget surprises: quote your total fee and realistic timeline, and let me know if you need any diagnostics upfront.
