I have a fully drafted, 24-page picture book that introduces 8- to 12-year-olds to the magic of aviation through vibrant illustrations and concise text. The visuals are locked; what I still need is an experienced children’s-book editor to give the words the same lift the artwork already has.

Your main mission is editing: tightening sentence flow, refining word choice, and making sure every page soars with an inspiring tone that still sneaks in humor and gentle education. Along the way I’d like clear feedback on three fronts—story flow and structure, character development, and overall language/readability—so the narrative feels seamless to young readers while earning a parent’s stamp of approval.

Word count is light, so each line has to pull its weight beside the art. Aviation terminology should remain accurate yet approachable; metaphors, jokes, and facts must all hit the right altitude for a middle-grade audience.

Deliverables I’m counting on:
• A marked-up manuscript (tracked changes or similar)
• A clean, print-ready version
• A brief editorial memo outlining the rationale behind key edits and any optional tweaks

If you love children’s literature, understand pacing around illustrations, and can blend inspiration, humor, and learning in a single glide path, I’d be thrilled to work with you and get this book cleared for take-off.
