PLG Onboarding & Activation

About Affily

Affily Network is a modern content collaboration platform built for creative teams, agencies, and professional content creators. We help users collect, review, approve, organize, and deliver creative assets in one place — replacing the fragmented stack of WeTransfer, Google Drive, Dropbox, Slack, email, and Frame.io.

Everything in the product maps to one framework: Collect → Review → Deliver.

Who we serve:

Primary: Founder-led creative, content, UGC, influencer, and video production agencies (roughly 3–20 people).
Secondary: Individual professional content creators — UGC creators, influencers, photographers, videographers, freelance editors — working directly with brands.

We're inspired by Stripe, Notion, Linear, Figma, and Dropbox: polished, effortless, and built for fast activation from the first few minutes in the product.

The Role

We're growing our user base through outbound and need someone to make sure the people who sign up actually get to their "aha moment" — and go on to upgrade to a paid plan.

We're looking for someone who lives at the intersection of PLG strategy, onboarding UX, and conversion design. This isn't a pure UI role and it isn't a pure email/marketing role — it's someone who can diagnose why users aren't activating, design the flow that fixes it, and write the copy/emails that carry it.

What you'll work on
Guided onboarding / product tour for new signups
Onboarding email sequences (founder-led tone, not generic drip)
In-app checklists, tooltips, and empty states that teach rather than sit blank
Upgrade triggers and prompts tied to real value moments, not generic paywalls
Identifying and fixing drop-off points in the current activation funnel
What success looks like

More free users reaching their first real "aha moment" (first upload, first shared workspace, first creator invited, first Delivery Page sent) — and a higher rate of those users converting to a paid plan.

What We're Looking For
PLG SaaS experience specifically — you've worked on onboarding/activation for a self-serve B2B SaaS product before, not enterprise sales-led onboarding.
UX writing / microcopy skills — you can write short, clear, action-oriented copy. We'll ask to see writing samples.
Lifecycle email experience — you've built onboarding sequences before, not just one-off newsletters.
Comfort reading data, not just designing — you can look at funnel data, session recordings, or user conversations and turn that into a concrete change, not just a "best practices" template.
Able to work inside an existing design system — you'll design flows and specs; we handle final implementation. This is about strategy and structure, not reinventing our visual identity.
Application Task

We want to see how you think, not just hear about it. Please:

1. Sign up for a free Affily account and go through the product as a new user would.
2. Write up your honest first impressions — where did you get stuck, what wasn't clear, what would you have expected to happen next?
3. Propose your approach to activation and conversion for Affily specifically — not a generic framework. Tell us:
- Your top 2–3 hypotheses for why free users aren't activating.
- How you'd validate them.
- One concrete onboarding flow you'd design to get a new user to their first "aha moment" faster.
- One concrete upgrade trigger — where and when you'd prompt a free user to go paid, tied to a real value moment they've just experienced.

Bonus (not required, but it'll stand out):
A visual — a wireframe, flow sketch, Figma mockup, or even a rough hand-drawn diagram — of one piece of this you'd actually build for us. We want to see how you think in flows, not just words.
