Photo Editing & Social Media Adaptation Brief

Project overview
We require the editing, retouching and multi-format adaptation of approximately 100 photographs from two separate photoshoots:

Outdoor shoot — lifestyle/environmental imagery.

Indoor product-placement shoot — focused product imagery, likely requiring closer attention to lighting, reflections, colour accuracy and background tidying.

The final images will be used across social media channels and should look polished, consistent and on-brand in every format. The brief covers colour and lighting correction, clean cropping, light retouching and exports optimised for each platform.

Scope of work

1. Initial review and selection
Review all supplied images and flag any that are unusable due to focus, exposure, motion blur, severe distortion or other technical issues.

Provide a shortlist of the strongest images for approval before detailed editing, if required.

Identify any images where lighting, colour or composition needs more significant correction.

2. Lighting and colour assessment

Assess each image for exposure, contrast, white balance, shadows, highlights and overall lighting consistency.

Correct underexposed or overexposed areas where possible without making the image look unnatural.

Balance colour temperature so the outdoor and indoor shoots feel cohesive as a campaign, while retaining the natural character of each setting.

Ensure product colours are accurate and consistent, particularly across the indoor product-placement images.

Reduce harsh shadows, distracting highlights and uneven lighting where achievable.

Apply a consistent visual grade across the selected images so they work well as a set.

3. Retouching and clean-up
Remove temporary distractions such as dust, marks, stray objects, litter, cables, reflections, lens flare or obvious background clutter where appropriate.

Tidy backgrounds without altering the overall scene or making the edit look artificial.

Lightly retouch people only if applicable: skin smoothing, blemish removal, stray-hair tidy-up and clothing adjustments should be natural rather than heavily edited.

For product images, ensure the product is sharp, well presented and free from distracting marks or reflections.

Do not materially alter product shape, packaging, branding, logos, claims or key product features.

4. Cropping and composition
Crop each image so the main subject is clearly positioned and the composition looks intentional.

Maintain appropriate space around products, people and key branding so nothing important is cut off.

Create clean crops for each required social format, avoiding awkward cuts or stretched images.

Ensure images remain visually strong when cropped to square, portrait and vertical formats.

Required social media formats
Please supply edited versions in the following formats, prioritising the strongest images for each use:

Use Recommended size Aspect ratio
Instagram/Facebook feed – portrait 1080 x 1350 px 4:5
Instagram/Facebook feed – square 1080 x 1080 px 1:1
Instagram/Facebook Stories, Reels covers, TikTok 1080 x 1920 px 9:16
LinkedIn feed 1200 x 1200 px 1:1
LinkedIn link preview / landscape 1200 x 627 px 1.91:1
X/Twitter feed 1200 x 675 px 16:9
Website/blog or general landscape use 1920 x 1080 px 16:9
The core social set should include 4:5, 1:1 and 9:16 versions, as these cover the majority of feed, carousel, Stories and short-form vertical placements. Current platform guidance commonly recommends 1080 x 1350 px for portrait feed posts, 1080 x 1080 px for square posts and 1080 x 1920 px for Stories, Reels and TikTok.

Brand and creative direction
Editing should feel premium, natural and modern — not over-filtered or overly saturated.

Preserve authentic skin tones, product colours and environmental detail.

The outdoor images should feel bright, aspirational and lifestyle-led.

The indoor product images should feel clean, focused and commercially strong.

Please follow the supplied brand guidelines, colour palette and tone of voice where provided.

Approval process
Editor reviews the full image set and flags any concerns.

Client approves a selection or confirms all images should be edited.

Editor supplies a small test batch of 5–10 images across both shoots for feedback.

Once the style is approved, the editor completes the remaining images.

Client provides one consolidated round of feedback, followed by final delivery.

Assets to be supplied
